Zwartkop is proud to announce that we will be hosting a brand new Sunshine Tour tournament later this year. The ISPS HANDA South African Match Play Championship will take place from the 29th October to the 4th November and we are already very excited - there hasn’t been a Match Play tournament on the Sunshine Tour for nearly a quarter of a century.
|The Tournament will start off with around 128 professionals in the first round of the knockout and will be whittled down to two in the final on the Sunday. To add something a little different to the event, from the Thursday, 16 Disabled Golfers will compete in their own Match Play event, also ending with a final on the Sunday. |
Dr Handa, a Japanese philanthropist and hugely successful businessman is the tournament sponsor. His ISPS organisation has been involved in Blind Golf for many years and more recently has started sponsoring professional ladies, men’s and senior golf tournaments around the world, including the recent ISPS HANDA Wales Open on the European Tour. Dr Handa is passionate about trying to get golf into the paralympics and that is how the unique concept for this tournament came about. We are thrilled that he has chosen South Africa, a country in which he has no business interests, to make his next mark.
We hope that you will join us in embracing the event. It is a huge privilege for us all to have the opportunity of showcasing our course and facilities not only to the worldwide television viewers that will have access to the daily highlights programme, but also to the daily spectators. We will be trying to get as many people as possible here to watch the tournament live, so that we can make it one of the best tournaments that it can be. We hope you will join in the fun.
To make you more proud – make sure you check out the latest issue of Compleat Golfer magazine – Zwartkop features as the Course of the Month!

news from the Golf Shop
"Maak die Bulle almal Bokke", were the thoughts at the beginning of the season. However, after Saturday's performance, I'm sure, as Meyer has expressed himself, that there are some real concerns in the Springbok camp. If any of you watched the Ireland and All Blacks game on Saturday, there is no doubt in my mind that we need to improve - and very quickly.
Moving away from rugby and onto golf, I see that Tiger has picked up a new sponsor in the form of Rolex. His deal is rumored to be worth about $ 3 Million a year for three years. Nice one Tiger!
For those of you who have not noticed, we have received the new Ahead jackets in stock. We have also just received our new Pringle long sleeve shirts and also Cleveland classic Zwartkop Country Club logo jerseys. We have limited stock, so please click here if you would like to order.
Winter is truly upon us, but despite this our Mixed League team managed to beat Pebble Rock. Well done!

The Difference Between Sports Massage and Physiotherapy
There is big difference between sports massage and physiotherapy. So, what is the difference? The difference between the two is in their viewpoint and in their method.
Sports Massage is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury, injury treatment and the rehabilitation of a sportsperson. Its main focus is on the manipulation of body tissues by manual methods, to assist the body in its natural processes of pain reduction, stress reduction, improved health and well-being. The philosophy is based on a holistic (or whole-listic) approach where all the parts of the individual are encouraged to work together in balance and harmony. This includes the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of the whole person.
|A Physiotherapist is a medical profession. They assess, diagnose and treat conditions due to pain, restricted movement, weakness or altered mobility caused by an accident, illness or degeneration. They are qualified to use electrotherapy machines. Traction, mobilisation and manipulation of vertebral limb and jaw joints are also utilised to rehabilitate a patient. Special cases such as back and neck injuries, stroke patients, people with arthritis and fractures, are general causes that make physical therapy necessary, and that cannot be cured or treated by a simple massage. |
Both types of therapy have their validity and are just as good as the other in the job they are intended to perform. When used together, a person's chances of making a full recovery from an injury is increased dramatically.
